For the past few weeks, we have been getting information regarding cyclones. In the month of May, the Mocha cyclone hit the country, and now the Indian Meteorological Department stated a warning regarding the Biparjoy Cyclone. What causes a Cyclone?
After absorbing this much information regarding the cyclone, You might be wondering about what causes cyclones to occur. Since the low-pressure area needs to be filled with high-pressure air from the surroundings, the cycle scores on the new cool air get warm and moist over the ocean, moving upwards and so on.

The word cyclone is taken from the Greek word, which means ‘moving in a circle’. It was given in the 18th century by British officials in India.

FAQ Biparjoy Cyclone:
How are Cyclones Named?
The World Meteorological Organization has established a naming system for tropical cyclones to ensure clarity and avoid confusion. Regional weather forecasters follow specific rules for naming cyclones. In the Atlantic and the Southern Hemisphere (Indian Ocean and South Pacific), tropical cyclones are named in alphabetical order, alternating between women’s and men’s names. Since 2000, countries in the Northern Indian Ocean region have adopted a new system where names are listed alphabetically based on countries and are gender-neutral. This standardized approach helps in effectively communicating and tracking tropical cyclones across different regions.

What is the current status of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy?
As of 11:30 pm on June 8, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy is located over the east-central Arabian Sea, approximately 840 kilometers west-southwest of Goa and 870 km west-southwest of Mumbai.
